Blood and Microbiome Testing

Blood tests

Being a bit of a nerd, I love a laboratory test, it's so interesting to see what's going on inside the body in a way that's completely unknown otherwise. If you're similar and want an insight into your general health, and if there's anything you can do to improve it, or you have a concern about a particular area e.g. diabetes risk. Please get in touch and we can discuss what tests are best for you. See below for an idea of what I offer.

For simplicity suggested tests for different needs are grouped together and categorised into three tiers depending on how much detail you'd like.

Samples are either a finger prick test or autodraw blood collection device. Both are quick and easily taken yourself at home. If you want a venous draw this can be arranged at an additional cost.

Tests are delivered through the post, and returned the same way, very straight forward.

All tests are robustly quality assured for the postal transit time.

Gut Microbiome Testing

We're increasingly realising the impact our gut microbiome has on our health, it plays a vital role in digestion, immunity, hormone balance, and mood. Testing your gut health can uncover imbalances, overgrowths, or deficiencies in beneficial bacteria, helping you identify the root causes of symptoms. With this insight, we can create a targeted plan to restore balance, improve digestion, and support your overall wellbeing

This gut microbiome test detects 9,665 bacterial and 384 archael species, which are then grouped into 8 beneficial or harmless categories:

  • Bacillota

  • Actinomycetota

  • Bacteroidota

  • Pseudomonadota

  • Roseburia

  • Bifidobacterium

  • Faecalibacterium

  • Lactobacillaceae

And into 11 potentially harmful groups:

  • Campylobacter

  • Clostridioides

  • Helicobacter

  • Listeria

  • Proteus

  • Pseudomonas

  • Salmonella

  • Shigella

  • Sutterella

  • Vibrio

  • Yersinia

Within the report, a full analysis of your biome is included, with a summary broken down to 10 separate sections, which will give detailed information - with appropriate action to be taken where relevant:

  • Gut diversity

  • Butyrate score

  • Lactate score

  • Acetate score

  • Propionate score

  • H2S score

  • Crohns score

  • Diabetes score

  • Ulcerative Colitis score

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome score
