Managing Anixiety

Anxiety can be defined as a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease about something with an uncertain outcome.

It makes sense that we all feel like this at times — perhaps before a job interview, or while navigating the rapids during white-water rafting. This kind of anxiety is a natural, healthy response to a challenge.

But for some, the anxiety system goes into overdrive. You might wake up in the morning with nothing “wrong” on the surface — yet your body feels flooded with cortisol. Even simple interactions can be loaded with tension, worry, or fear. It’s exhausting, and it robs life of joy.

My Approach

My process is designed to help you rewire the anxious brain so it feels safe, grounded, and able to relax into everyday moments. It’s based around three core principles:

  1. Recognise the Habit Loops
Anxiety often becomes a self-reinforcing cycle. For example, you might feel anxious about a deadline, seek comfort by scrolling through Instagram, lose an hour without realising it, then berate yourself for “wasting” time — which only makes you more anxious. These loops keep anxiety stuck in place.

  2. Disenchantment with Old Coping Strategies
Together, we gently explore the ways you’ve been managing anxiety that may no longer serve you. This isn’t about self-blame — it’s about understanding these habits so they lose their grip.

  3. Turn Toward Your Feelings
Instead of pushing anxiety away, we learn to meet it with curiosity. You begin to notice the sensations, allow them to be there, and ride the wave — knowing it will eventually break. Over time, this retrains your brain to respond with calm rather than fear.

Tailored to You

No two people’s anxiety looks the same. Sessions are personalised, and may include approaches such as:

  • Self-compassion practices

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) tools

  • Breathwork

  • Re-parenting techniques

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles

You Are Not Alone

Whether your anxiety feels constant or arises in specific situations, know that you’re not alone — and you are not powerless. Our modern culture often keeps our nervous systems in a heightened state, but we can change this. With the right tools and support, your brain and body can learn to feel safe again, so you can reconnect with calm, confidence, and joy.
